dead mimosa
A call from a friend suggested some sort of outing for 8 March. That seemed right so we went to see if the house of the dead had any interesting remnants to buy. There was a particularly pretty 50's drinks trolley so it is now in the cantina. Still, some celebration for the wimmin - even the mimosa had finished flowering last week. Sigh.

Cheer up, for a fading mimosa there are lots of pretty tulips opening up, violets galore and the viburnum is in early full blossom. A very happy past Woman Day [as they say in the Abruzzi, Buone feste fatte!]
thanx Pispol.
on my way back from my interview i bumped into beachbum on his way to get me mimosa so i went with him to the house of flowers:
us (hopeful): do you have any mimosa?
shoplady: no. everyone's been asking for that today.
us: it's international women's day.
shoplady: I know.
shoplady (as afterthought): is that it's official flower then?
us (together, nodding): ...
shoplady: well I don't have any.
Lenna, neither did I. finished. must be global warming.
so much for international wimmin.
Not to speak of hyacinths, daisies, primroses, the apricot and quince trees, bergenias, rosemary, irises, carnations, and even the green euphorbia flowers.
Incontentabile?!
I got branches of pink peach blossom, roses (red and white), mimosas, tulips, and other lovely flowers I don't even know the name of.
And I forgot to mention alyssum, masses and masses of daffodils, and (in the new garden up the hill)highly scented osmanthus and a leafless special viburnum. And the banksia is ready to burst out in under a week in all its full glory.
Not complaining about the flowers, it's having a special woman 's day that disturbs me. Giules has the right attitude displayed in every day a birthday.
And Lenna's tale sums it up somehow though I can't quite put my finger on why.
